Wheels In Motion opened its doors on March 1st, 2011, the day I retired from 29+ years of military service. Serving almost two decades in Europe, I biked extensively in Germany, completing multiple 320- and 400-kilometer bike trails through some of the most amazing scenery possible ... the Rhein, Mosel and Saar Rivers, vineyards as far as the eye could see, old historical towns of which the oldest was 2,000 years old (Trier!) and absolutely beautiful countryside. I also biked in Austria, France, Luxembourg and Spain.
During my last seven years in Europe I was a weekly columnist in the European Stars & Stripes Newspaper, writing about walking, cycling, swimming, rollerblading and cross-country skiing events sponsored by clubs in cities and towns across countries participating in the International Federation of Popular Sports (IVV). I also wrote additional feature articles on walking and cycling tips and safety and even about pet safety! In the 13 years I participated in IVV events before leaving Europe, I walked 8,000 kilometers in 12 countries; completed 33 marathons, 5 triathlons and duathlons; cycled 1,500 kilometers and even cross-country skied 125 kilometers! The only IVV sport in which I didn’t participate was rollerblading ... the wheels are too small for my liking!
In March 2006 I moved to Ottawa. During the "snowmageddon" winter of 2008 I decided to try my hand at breaking down and replacing worn out components on a Rocky Mountain full suspension mountain bike I had excitedly bought on eBay. By the next winter I was building my first bike from the ground up, selecting the frame and every component and learning even more as I went along. I was hooked!
A professionally trained and Certified Bicycle Technician by the United Bicycle Institute, the industry’s leading school, I started Wheels In Motion to provide a more personalized bicycle repair experience, drawing from my 20+ years working in customer service. As my customer, you will always pay the best price -- you will not be charged for repairs your bike does not need.
The only female-owned and operated bicycle repair shop in the Ottawa and North Grenville area, you can rest assured your bike will receive the attention and care it deserves ... and be ready for the road or trail again as quickly as possible! The most fantastic part of my job is handing cleaned and polished bikes back to excited customers after a tune-up. "It looks better than the day I bought it!" is what I hear the most.
In the lower half of this page you can schedule an appointment as well as message me with any questions you may have about your bike or my services. I look forward to hearing from you!
Ride. Drive. Safely!
